Priceless! For the rest...
No kidding, you can pay in euro. But if you still have dreams on your bucket list maybe you can fulfill some of them here in Croatia. There is so much to do, so much to discover. With your feet solid on the ground, high on the pedals of your bike or down in the refreshing water... Go for it!

COME FISH WITH ĐURO
Or Antonijo or Ivan, all proven good skippers and fishermen from Jezera. To catch a real big fish the little town of Jezera, only 3 miles away from my home, on the island of Murter is the best spot in the Adriatic sea. The rifs and underwater mountains about 25 miles outside the coast are rich with small fishes what attracts the big ones. Blue fin tuna, albacore, little tunnies, swordfish, mahi mahi, dentex... it is all possible, under the guidance of the best biggame skippers and fishermen of the area. A daytrip includes a license to fish, bait fish (sardines), rods and reels and drinks on board. The price per day is for up to 4 people, so you can take your friends. Bookings depend from the weather: strong wind will have to make you wait some days... In the big game world catch and release is normal, but if the skipper decides to take a game fish home, the fish is his. For smaller fish, like dentex, little tunny or bream it will be no problem to ask him if you can take some home for the evening meal on my grill. FIND THE HERONS THROUGH THE SPY-GLASS
'Vransko jezero' or Lake Vrana, 10 km from my home, is the biggest sweet water lake of Croatia and lies just 800 meter out of the coastline, from Pirovac to Pakoštane. It is 14 km long and 2-3 km wide. And it is an official Nature Park because of the many many birds coming to feed themselves on their routes from north to south or vice versa. Because of the shallow waters and the vegetation along the coast lots of waterbirds have this lake in their flight schemes... The symbol of the park is therefore a Great White Heron. You can expect here more than 100 kinds of birds like the Little Egret, the Purple Heron, the Bittern, the Corncrake and the Spotted Crake, the Pygmea Comorant and even the Yellow Heron. But also small birds like warblers, kingfishers and ducks, swans and geese and of course birds of prey like the Marsh Harrier. It will be a real adventure. You can go on your own but you can also take a 5 hours guided trip with a guide from the park for 1000 kuna (€135). With grateful thanks to Nature Park Vransko Lake.
you can bring your own bike
or hire one in Tisno,
Jezera or Vodice. Best time in spring and autumn
MOUNT YOUR BIKE AND GO!
Croatia has a very long coast and there are not many roads. At least what we call roads, as sandy or stony roads and donkey trails will bring you were you want as well. So the area is ideal for those who want to go by mountain bike. If you bring your own, feel sure it will be kept safe in my garage. There are special 'bike and hike' maps, which of course will be in your apartment. There is one for the island of Murter, starting at my house door. Another for the area around Vodice starting 6 km from here, and one for the area around the freshwater lake 'Vransko jezero', 10 km from here. You can choose several trips: along the coast, from chapel to chapel, following the Romans or take the wine&olive route around Stankovci. The roads can be tricky, curvy and steep, but they will have magnificent views over the sea and will bring unexpected beauty in landscape, olive and vine orchards and old stone houses like the 'pudarica' in Jezera - a kind of lighthouse - or the typical 'kažun' - old stone shelters for shepherds - and even fresh water wells...
1 day sailing trip €275

SAIL AWAY AND FIND YOUR OWN BAY
Staying in Croatia and not going by boat is nearly impossible. You will notice that when you see the beauty of the coast and the hundreds of islands scattered in the turquoise sea like diamonds. This part of Dalmatia has the most islands with national park Kornati as a true high light. Sailing is the most divine way of moving around on the sea, as only the wind will bring you were you want. You can take a daytrip with one of my Croatian friends, like Zlatko. He will sail his own boat for you and your friends or family. To a little island for yourself maybe? Or a beautiful bay together with some other sailing boats? To have just a few hours of rest, do some swimming and snorkling (you might see the big 'noble pen shell'or 'pinna nobilis', standing right up in the sandy sea-bottom) or take a nap while sun bathing on the white deck. Maybe you are lucky and you will meet one of the dolphin families around Murter... You could ask the skipper to go to sail to the Kornati islands and have lunch there, on Smokvica. Or you will take my own lunch with you and eat it on board....
only in november
€45 for 1 day,
every other day €25
bottle first press olive oil included
THE OLIVE EXPERIENCE
Olive picking starts here, around Murter (which originally means 'olive trough') traditionally in the beginning of November, after All Saints Day and All Souls Day. At that time about half of the olives are ripe and dark red to black, the others are still green. This makes the oil soft and tasty and not as sharp as oil from only green olives. Not a single olive will be thrown away, even the ones already fallen down will have to be picked up. Olive oil means real money here. The pensions are low, so olives give the people a lot of security. You will help picking the olives of a good friend of mine, Olven [alwen] from Jezera. He has different orchards on the hills towards the sea with strong, well kept, but old olive trees, sometimes over hundred years old! You will wear an apron to assemble the olives. To pick the fruits you can easily step up the stems to reach the branches or you can use a ladder. Of course there will be lunch, mostly something to grill, prepared by Olven himself. And you will drink some of his home made brandy or wine. You will meet him at his house to see where he stores his olives, which are kept in barrels with fresh seawater before pressing. And you will join him to the 'uljara Raol' the olive press company in Murter, where the olives will be pressed and where you will see your own oil running down in your bottle. If there are enough olives, they will run the old stone mill, an adventure in itself...
walking trails from 2 to 10 km or more but always with remarkable view points. Best time in spring and in autumn.
GET ON YOUR FEET
There are several foot paths to walk. Some of them are also great for biking, for others you need your hiking shoes and a good feeling of coordinates. But all are 'balm for the soul' as one of my good friends who love this area as much as I do, said. Weather you take the coastal path from Tisno to Jezera (and vice versa), take an off road to the little church of Sv. Andrije, follow the road from my house up to the spy tower or the other way over the hill and to the sea... views are magnificent. From Jezera there are old donkey roads that will lead you to the little harbor of Murtar and from here you can walk over the hill and along the coast to the beautiful bay of Kosirina...
